Building on a background in clean energy and sustainable real estate development, Rick founded Denver-based Pivot Energy in 2009, with a vision of building a broad-based DG platform that could help accelerate the shift to a decentralized and cleaner grid. Pivot is now an established national leader in community solar and commercial solar development, finance, and industry services.

In 2021, Rick partially exited the company and now serves as Chief Strategist, helping chart the course for a more rapid growth period, and leading initiatives for innovation. The company continues to be driven by maximizing impact, environmentally and socially - and operating as a B-Corp.
