Arriving by Air
Washington, D.C., is served by three major airports:
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): Located just 15 minutes from downtown D.C., DCA is the most convenient option for accessing the city.
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD): About 30 miles from downtown D.C., IAD offers a range of international and domestic flights.
- Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI): Roughly 45 minutes from downtown D.C., BWI is another option with numerous flight options.
Transportation Options from Airports

- Metro: The Blue and Yellow Metro Lines provide direct service to downtown D.C.
- Taxi/Rideshare: A quick and easy option, typically taking about 15 minutes to downtown.

Public Transit in Washington, D.C.
The city’s Metrorail and Metrobus systems provide extensive and reliable service, making it easy to navigate without a car. Consider purchasing a SmarTrip card for convenient access to public transportation.
Driving to Washington, D.C.
D.C. is accessible via major highways, including I-95, I-495, and I-66. Be aware that traffic in and around the city can be heavy, particularly during rush hours. Parking can also be limited, so public transit or rideshare options are often more convenient.

Attendees are responsible for securing their own lodging. Due to the small size of Boot Camp, we do not have a hotel room block for this event, but we can provide some recommendations on places to stay!

Things to Do
While Boot Camp is a very full three days, we make sure to build in time for you to experience all that Washington, D.C., has to offer.
National Mall: Stroll along this iconic two-mile stretch featuring world-renowned monuments and memorials, including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the U.S. Capitol.
Smithsonian Museums: With 17 museums, galleries, and a zoo—all offering free admission—you can explore everything from art and history to science and culture. Favorites include the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the Smithsonian National Zoo.
Georgetown: Wander through this historic neighborhood with its cobblestone streets, waterfront views, boutique shops, and fantastic dining options. It’s a perfect spot to unwind after Boot Camp sessions.
Tidal Basin: If you’re visiting in the spring, the cherry blossoms are a must-see. Even off-season, the scenic loop around the Tidal Basin offers breathtaking views of the Jefferson Memorial and Washington, D.C.'s skyline.

Preparing for Boot Camp? Here’s a handy guide to ensure you’re ready for both the sessions and your time exploring Washington, D.C.:
Comfortable Attire: Boot Camp is a mix of engaging sessions and networking. Casual attire is recommended for the event.
Walking Shoes: Washington, D.C., is a city best explored on foot. From the National Mall to Georgetown, you’ll want comfortable shoes for walking between landmarks and enjoying the sights.
Weather-Ready Gear: D.C.'s weather can vary, so check the forecast before you pack. Bring layers for cooler evenings.
Notebook: While we provide plenty of materials, you may want to bring a notebook or tablet for taking additional notes during sessions.
Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout Boot Camp and your adventures in the city.
