Oana Root is Vice President, Structured Origination, at AES Clean Energy, where she leads commercial strategy and execution for large corporate customers procuring low-carbon energy and capacity-backed products across the United States. She leads the delivery of large-scale data center projects through landmark partnerships with data center customers, enabling scalable infrastructure for AI-driven growth. Oana partners with customers, utilities, and other stakeholders to advance firm power solutions for data center projects that prioritize speed to power, scalability, reliability and redundancy with a viable path to sustainability.

With deep expertise in power markets and complex contracting, she helps companies evolve their energy strategies through risk-managed procurement that addresses firming, reliability, and decarbonization needs as demand accelerates. Her work spans long-term PPAs and tailored solutions that combine renewable portfolios with firming resources and structured products to deliver dispatchable power, improve operational resilience and support progress toward clean energy goals.

Previously, Oana held structured origination leadership roles at NextEra, Brookfield Renewable, and Morgan Stanley, executing high-impact transactions in fast-changing energy markets.

Oana holds an MSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Bucharest and an MBA from Emory University, and she advocates for diversity and leadership development across the energy industry.
