Corporates, CCA’s and utilities are moving towards a stricter standard of hourly clean energy procurement. This panel will discuss power procurement strategies for 24x7 carbon free energy (CFE), clean energy accounting of energy storage, and marginal resource emission offsets. We’ll discuss the timing and resolve of energy buyers to realize the new around the clock standard of CFE and the adoption rate. To realize 24x7 CFE from energy buyers, there are multiple approaches, and we’ll review the differences in terms of costs and benefits of realizing 24x7 CFE under three different approaches. i) hourly load matching vs ii) hourly marginal emissions without hourly matching iii) and hourly marginal emissions without geographic matching.
