Japan’s green transformation (GX) is at a pivotal moment. As the country advances toward its 2050 net-zero emissions target, increasing corporate demand for clean energy presents both a challenge and an opportunity to catalyze market reform, investment, and deployment. This will require deeper multi-stakeholder engagement—particularly with the private sector, which plays a critical role in driving clean energy adoption and sending long-term market signals.
This invite-only roundtable—hosted by CEBA—will include a discussion with Yuki Shimazu, Special Advisor to Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Director of Industrial Research at the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). Mr. Shimazu will provide insights into Japan’s evolving clean energy policy and market landscape, setting the stage for a focused dialogue with corporate clean energy buyers on current policy developments, remaining barriers, and potential solutions for unlocking greater investment, market transparency, and clean energy access across Japan.
